After a meltdown

Today I want to talk about meltdowns, specifically the shame that we can experience in the aftermath of a meltdown.

Whilst we are in this internal spiral of shame we can forget that we are safe and that we are not to blame for the dysregulation that pushed us to our melting point.

Our internal narrative will often be centring the blame on us and over time this can develop into core beliefs about ourselves and what we deserve, impacting our self esteem and wellbeing.

After a meltdown the thing we need most is compassion, from others and from ourselves to remind us:

- we are safe now

- we are not at fault

- we deserve kindness

- it's ok if we are not ok
